i think the thing i hate most about tom ford (besides liking a single man) is how disappointed i became when i found out he was gay. it’s like i forgot that just because a man is not heterosexual, it deters them from being misogynistic assholes. i forget that gay men are just as capable of perpetuating the myth that all women are worth is their bodies.
to see a woman’s body cut up and degraded to become a pair of legs and a man’s cologne in between to sell a product is disgusting. to see her as not even a whole person, but just a cut up part is dehumanizing. and it disturbs me that more people don’t even notice.
it disturbs me that i have come to accept this quality from the general male population, but am disheartened by seeing it in my queer counterparts.:( I’m disappointed in that ad campaign.
Which are you more disturbed about? That you’ve become more jaded about the general male population? Or that you didn’t think that queer guys could be -this- misogynistic too?
That said, what a tasteless ad campaign.
